Community organisations are encouraged to apply to be the major beneficiary of the 2013 Botanic to Bridge fun run presented by Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC).

A favourite on the Gladstone events calendar, the Botanic to Bridge endorses the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, and has contributed over $62,000 to community organisations since 2010.

GPC CEO Leo Zussino believes the event provides an important opportunity not only to encourage active lifestyles, but also to contribute significant funding to assist worthy groups within the community.

“Since its establishment three years ago, the Botanic to Bridge has delivered positive results in the areas of health, education and financial support for local community projects, cementing its value in GPC’s community investment portfolio,” Mr Zussino said.

“Funds raised from the event will go straight to the community and local schools to assist with funding their key projects.”

Last year, Mission to Seafarers received over $10,000 to help connect families and enhance seafarers’ way of life.

Special Olympics Gladstone Region also received over $10,000, which was used to attract more volunteers and experienced coaches in order to engage more sports for current athletes and encourage new participants.

“GPC has had the opportunity to assist four vital community groups over the last three years and I encourage local organisations to submit a beneficiary application for this year’s event,” Mr Zussino said.
