Thousands of feet will pound the bitumen from the Tondoon Botanic Gardens through to the Gladstone Marina this Sunday, 20 August for the 8th annual Botanic to Bridge.
Conceptualised and brought to life in 2010 by Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC), the event has injected over $300,000 in to our local community via schools and a major community beneficiary.
GPC CEO, Peter O’Sullivan said that the organisation was proud to be involved in such a significant community event.
“In 2010 some alarming statistics were released by the Queensland Government regarding the fact that we may outlive our children due to unhealthy living habits,” he said.
“This resinated with the CEO at the time, Leo Zussino, and sparked the concept of the Botanic to Bridge.
“Since the third Sunday in August 2010, every year on this weekend thousands of people have registered and made a commitment to get out and active with their family and friends.”
Now in its 8th year the success of the Botanic to Bridge can be attributed to event participants, volunteers and sponsors.
“Community events like this are not possible without the backing of sponsors, volunteers and participants, GPC thanks everyone for their ongoing support,” he said.
“We look forward to seeing a sea of fluorescent pink sweep through our streets this weekend.”
Online registrations have now closed for the 2017 Botanic to Bridge, however manual registrations will be accepted in the Botanic to Bridge Race Office on Friday and Saturday, no cash will be taken.
The Botanic to Bridge Race Office is located in the Leo Zussino Building at CQUniversity and will be open Friday 7.30am to 6.30pm and Saturday 8.00am to 12.00pm.
